Last film of Theo van Gogh premieres

And thanks to the fine people at Kempen PR, I wasn't there to report on it. Anyway, the BBC has an article about the movie here. The film itself can be downloaded here, although you need to be fairly fluent in Dutch. There are no English subtitles, I'm afraid. Plus, you'll need to buy a license to be able to view it, which will only be possible from Wednesday onwards.

Hello, I found your site shortly after the Van Gogh assassination. Quite enjoyable, I must say. I'm writing to ask about a Telegraph article I'm reading. It states that the Dutch are beginning to leave - in droves. Is this news to you?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2004/12/11/wneth111.xml

Here's the last bit of the article.

>>Europe's leader for much of the last century in social experiments, Holland may now be pointing to the next cultural revolution: bourgeois exodus.

Best,
Pamela

Thanks for your response. The Telegraph article is rather suggestive. Further on in the article, the journalist writes: 'Many retiring workers are moving to the south of France.' This probably accounts for a large percentage of immigration, as the Netherlands is slowly ageing (as are many other European countries). Nevertheless, there may be an increase in 'real immigration' as well, though I doubt it's as dramatic as the writer suggests. I remember reading it some time ago. There are more inaccuracies in the article. For example, the journalist writes: 'A shrill provocateur, Mr van Gogh was not to everybody's taste. He once filmed kittens being mangled to death in a washing machine, which he thought was hilarious.' Which simply isn't true. Van Gogh criticized animal abuse in that movie. In his columns, Van Gogh often made snide remarks about cowards who take out their frustration on animals.

I'm hoping the film will see English-language release. Particularly given van Gogh's posthumous worldwide notoriety, I'm guessing this film will go international.
