Translations of Van Gogh articles

Pieter Dorsman is making the effort and has translated a few sections of some articles by Theo van Gogh. Money quote:

'America is hated because it embodies the hope of people that yearn for a better life, to have meat everyday, but also to believe in the God they choose, or not.'

Amen.

(Which in no way is meant to imply I'm religious, because I'm not.)

The whole "or not" part is under attack by America's own fundamentalist extremists, however.

The money quote was posted by Pieter Dorsman but was a quote taken from Theo van Gogh's website. I was appalled when Theo was murdered but now that Dorsman has translated Theo's web site into English I am doubly appalled. Dorsman has done me a favor I can never repay. By his translation I have come to know Theo in death like I wish I had known him in life. van Gogh's irreverence masked a deeply moral man. I haven't had a hero since Hopalong Cassidy but I have one now.
