Meanwhile, religious fascism wins in the UK

Ten performances of a play have been cancelled in the UK because the local Sikh community tends to be a bit overly sensitive.
I was offended when I was a Christian kid and was confronted with books such as 'The Incredible Evil of the Supreme Being', which (as you may have gathered from the title) depicts the Christian God in none too favorable a light.
Can't remember throwing stones at the writer, though.
If you're offended, write your own books, plays or films, or simply speak out.
The universal line that must be drawn, and which cannot be debated, is that between speech and violence. When violence is used, very soon it will amount to mob rule and ultimately fascism, as soon as a strong leader rises to herd the mob.
Too bad the UK doesn't get that anymore.

Well there are plenty of us here who do get it (witness all the correspondence at Samizdata on the subject), but there appears to be an unwillingness by politicians to go near the subject, no doubt for fear of being branded racists.

The issue will however, soon become almost impossible to address, once the threatened laws against religious hate speech are introduced.

The Independent has published the key scene from Behzti, the work at the centre of the furore.

I think the majority of Brits get it. The question is WHAT they will do about it?

Here in the States they are called "speech codes" imposed by authorities who don't want to offend anyone. Fortunately we have advocacy groups who pounce on them like bloodhounds. These people are quickly put in their place as they cannot preempt the constitution and thank God neither can the politicians.
