Besides, does anyone remember the 4 contractors in Iraq that were killed and burned? Ofcourse they are infidels and so nobody should get enraged about them. But I refuse to let bigots of any religion determine my moral standards. And you're right; this may turn out to be a case of media hype rather than an act of gross insensitivity. But either way, adopting the McCain amendment is not just the right thing to do, but would also signal the American commitment to treating its prisoners humanely. Killing a man, whether in battle or as condign punishment, does not reduce his essential dignity. Torturing him does.
