Granted, it's about a week old, but one can never hear too many stories about the French. So I'll throw in this one as well.

That's what you get when hundreds of thousands of your best men die fighting to defend and/or liberate a country. Better an honest enemy than a false friend. A thousand curses on the "entente cordiale".
