Grow up

Sulli on the cartoon crisis:

'If Chinese radicals were ransacking Western embassies because of a cartoon, and were backed by the Chinese government, we would be outraged, demanding apologies, severing relations, and so on. But when Muslims do it, backed by Islamist governments, we are supposed to take it on the chin, to "respect" their religious traditions, issue mealy-mouthed statements, etc. In many ways, this is the real offense: treating Muslims as if their violation of global norms, and thralldom to medieval conceptions of politics and religion, were somehow acceptable.

They are not acceptable. Islam must reform itself if it is to have a proud and noble place again among the great religions of the world. Muslim countries must allow freedom of religion for other faiths - and allow their citizens free votes in free elections. Dabbling in Holocaust denial by a current government should be treated as a form of insanity or fascism, rather than as some kind of thing to be "understood". Those who are addicted to the narcotic of religious fanaticism do not need enabling or excuses. They need an intervention. Especially when they are on the verge of wielding nuclear weapons.'

About thirty years ago, American novelist Thomas Wolf wrote about militant New York blacks ‘mau-mauing’ rich white liberals. I believe the book was The Electric Acid Kool-Aid Test. Anyways, not much has changed. Liberals, the left can always be taken for suckers. They seem to be hardwired. There is something sick about the left. Seriously, I don’t mean to insult them. They always claim, and often are, better educated and traveled than the general population, and yet they were followers, supporters, and excuse makers for communism since the late 1800s. Now, in the mind of the leftist politic, it’s as if there never was communism, nor it’s hundred million murdered and a century wasted. Gone, vanished. It’s creepy.

We’ve all seen this behavior in other leftist, if not most, activities. In the US, for example, the left has spent a trillion dollars on Soviet style city development over a half centuries time and with Soviet results. Every five years they called it a different name, Slum Clearance, Model Cities, and Urban Renewal. The working class, professionals, and small business fled like East Germans to the suburbs, leaving once vibrant, economically wide-mixed and dense cities but shells of welfare ‘new men’, ‘model families’ and the leftist professional class that profits and supposedly assists them.

I could go on about government public education, welfare, and farm policy.

So, like horror movie Egyptian mummies, the left stubbles forward, viewing as it always does the world from it’s own secular way.

As a group, I don’t see the left or the institutions that they command, changing. I don’t think that any costs picked up by others, namely us, will affect them. If communism didn’t, why should islamistism? But this time there is a difference, the Internet. Furthermore, the right and center now understand the rules of this deadly game. I’m not sure of the solution, but at least we’ve had deadly and costly education the last hundred years. So, we must do what we must, as best as we can, for as long as it takes. Otherwise we will cease to be or even to be remembered, just like countless small churches and synagogues that lay quietly under the foundations of mosques throughout North Africa.
